Presented by Global Fashion Agenda and Chinamind NEXT, the Global Fashion Summit: Shanghai Gala was held on 7 November 2024, on the eve of the organisations’ participation in the China International Import Expo. The gala gathered local and international stakeholders for a celebratory dinner including panel discussions centred around the theme ‘Unlocking The Next Level’.

Fashion finds itself at a critical juncture. With years of impressive progress already unlocked, it is time to double down to increase impact. Activating this vital next level relies on new depths of collaborative action and evidence-based progress: it is the only way to move forward towards net positive.
The theme of the Gala continues the theme of the Copenhagen edition – ‘Unlocking The Next Level’. Inspired by a significant milestone, 2024 marks 15 years since the inaugural Global Fashion Summit. The Gala intends to raise awareness of sustainability in the fashion industry, showcase innovative practices and technologies, address pressing issues and solutions, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and inspire action toward sustainability goals.
Why Shanghai?
Shanghai is at the forefront of the global fashion scene, where tradition blends innovation and trends are set and followed worldwide. As China’s leading fashion city, it embodies the dynamism and diversity of the modern industry, supported by the Shanghai government’s “Shanghai First” initiative for international events.
China, the world’s largest consumer of apparel and textiles, significantly shapes industry trends and consumer behaviour. The Global Fashion Agenda Gala in Shanghai aims to harness this market power to drive sustainability, bringing together industry leaders and stakeholders to foster dialogue and collaboration that will influence global practices.

CIIE Keynote Address
The gala dinner was set ahead of GFA and Chinamind NEXT’s participation in CIIE (China International Import Expo) on 8 November 2024 – a forum renowned for its focus on sustainable innovation technology. Federica Marchionni, CEO, GFA, delivered a keynote address during the CIIE to an audience of esteemed leaders that showcased how innovation and emerging technologies can drive sustainability in lifestyle sectors and advance the industry towards climate goals.
