Alliances for a New Era

Presented by Global Fashion Agenda, the next edition of Global Fashion Summit will take place on 27-28 June in Copenhagen.

Global Fashion Summit

Global Fashion Summit is the leading international forum for sustainability in fashion and is presented by Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) – a non-profit organisation that fosters industry collaboration on sustainability in fashion to drive impact. With the vision of a net positive fashion industry, GFA accelerates impact by mobilising, inspiring, influencing and educating all stakeholders.

Convening major decision makers from across the world, the forum was first launched in 2009 as a COP15 side event and has become the nexus for agenda-setting discussions and presentations on the most critical environmental, social and ethical issues facing our industry and planet, all intended to spark urgent action and accelerate impact in the industry.

Global Fashion Summit: Singapore Edition 2022

Global Fashion Summit: Singapore Edition 2022 was hosted in Singapore on 3 November 2022. The new edition in Southeast Asia is the first international edition outside of Copenhagen since its inception in 2009.

The theme of Global Fashion Summit: Singapore Edition continued GFA’s focus on ‘Alliances For a New Era’. Under this theme, the Summit called on the industry to accelerate change – encouraging more alliances between manufacturers, suppliers, investors, brands, NGOs, policymakers and more. It will also examine cross-industry alliances, in a bid to accelerate the transition to a net positive reality. It built on the conversations and learnings from the Copenhagen event in June, with a deeper focus on the perspectives of manufacturers and supply chain partners and elevating diverse voices to further understand how the industry can collaborate to reduce social and environmental impact in the entire value chain.

With a targeted audience of fashion leaders including new voices, the forum facilitates intimate discussions and networking opportunities between industry stakeholders and decision-makers.

Broader Perspectives
By bringing the forum to Southeast Asia, the new edition included even more manufacturer and supply chain partner voices in the programme to form a deeper understanding of sustainability challenges, differences, and opportunities to collaborate with brand executives on equal terms. As a result, plenary sessions will consider topics such as (i) Renewable energy transformation – what does concrete transformation look like from tier 1-3 perspectives and what measures are needed to implement it? (ii) Better wage systems – how can the industry establish fair compensation, underpinned by fair purchasing practices that will help end poverty for millions of garment workers? (iii) Performance measurement – how can the industry accurately measure sustainability performance and tackle data credibility challenges?
Case Studies
Following the remarkable success of the Action Stage at the Copenhagen Edition in June, the Singapore Edition dedicated half of the programme to educational and action-oriented business case studies with options for direct interaction and live reactions. These included tangible learnings and concrete recommendations to mobilise guests to take immediate action following the event.
Collaboration
The event fosters further collaboration across stakeholder groups through productive roundtable sessions that create an exchange of views among key decision makers in both the public and private sectors. These meetings are designed and set up to drive commitments and new alliances for concrete action.
